Malmesbury Tribal Belly Dance group members mostly make their own costumes with the occasional exception of a specialist group costume purchase. We're always on the lookout for 'tribal' pieces of jewellery, accessories and fresh costume ideas. As Zoe Jakes, one of the best tribal fusion belly dancers once said: part of the job of being a belly dancer is the art of collecting. Often the most original or authentic pieces of jewellery, fabrics or costume pieces can be found by chance, rather than when you go out hunting for them. Ebay, charity shops and car boot sales can often become sources of costuming 'treasures' and unique one-of-a-kind finds. When we're preparing for a big show, like the annual Malmesbury Carnival performance we like to get together for costume-making and sewing session to help each other and make it more fun.
